WOLLEREI NEWS : Yarn of the month in September : Ramie de Luxe
A yarn from head to toe - top class from 100% nature
Ramie is the Malay name for a tropical nettle plant without stinging hairs native to East Asia
Ramie, also popularly known as Chinese grass, is a cultivated plant. It is usually propagated by cuttings. With a lifespan of 8 - 10 years, it can be harvested three times a year on average.
Fiber yields are four to five times higher than cotton on the same amount of acreage, with significantly lower water consumption. The highest quality species of this plant is called Kenas.
It is used in the new Ramie de Luxe from Atelier Zitron.
The ramie used is around 20 microns with an almost unbelievable fiber length of 170 - 180 mm.
Ramie is made of pure cellulose, is white and shiny and has a tensile strength like silk.
The yarn remains as soft as butter even after many washes and is even suitable for socks. And for sweaters, jackets, accessories, even baby clothes.
Ramie de Luxe is our yarn of the month and 10% off until the end of September!
