Founded in 2007 by Jörg Schönberger.

A lot has happened in the last 18 years. The online shop you see today is not much like the one we launched in 2007.
With a small warehouse in Hornstein in Burgenland, we were the first online shop for Rowan yarns in Austria at the time and had a small farm shop there.

With the following many years of experience in shipping, positive customer feedback and a constantly growing range, the desire for more customer proximity and personal exchange arose.

Larger storage capacities were needed and we found them in Wiener Neustadt.

Strong partners

An online shop can only function reliably with strong partners.
Since the beginning, we have relied on the flexible open source shop system Zen Cart in the background. With increasing traffic, the demands on the server hosting the shop are also increasing. In the provider All-Inkl has been an excellent partner for hosting our website since 2011 and we can also offer you a secure shopping experience thanks to permanent SSL encryption.
GLS , Post , DPD and DHL Express transport our parcels quickly and reliably to all countries.

Range expansion

We have greatly expanded our range in recent years. However, the number of items is not our main focus. We carefully select the yarns we add to our range, placing an emphasis on premium yarns made in Europe, which we can then deliver quickly and reliably.
With the German manufacturer Atelier Zitron have been offering yarns that are completely produced in Germany and are all certified according to Ökotex 100, product class 1.

Since the founding of Wollerei, we have been trying to expand our range of certified yarns and are pleased to be able to supply yarns that are fully GOTS certified.

Service

We have also greatly expanded our service area on the website in recent years. For example, you will find the current color chart for each yarn and, in our knitting gallery (menu item designs), the matching models with detailed information on material usage. You can browse through our range of instruction booklets in stock to quickly see if the models in the booklet are of interest to you.
For yarns, you will also always find quick access to projects realized by knitters from all over the world on Ravelry .
Our loyalty program rewards regular customers with interesting discounts, and our Newsletter keeps you up to date with the latest information about Zitron, Sesia and Austermann, and also offers newsletter subscribers exclusive offers.

Since May 2015, our online shop has been responsive, so the display adapts to your iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone, tablet or whatever device you are using.
Since July 2023, we have been online with a completely revised version.

Customer feedback

Since 2021: ChiaoGoo and Tulip

We have significantly expanded our range of knitting and crochet hooks since 2021. In addition to an extensive range from KnitPro and Prym, we now also have crochet hooks from the Japanese manufacturer Tulip and almost the complete range of the American manufacturer ChiaoGoo!

From 2023: Sesia

In March 2023, we added GOTS-certified organic cotton from Sesia to our range. We are thrilled with the quality of the yarns from this Italian manufacturer and have since added many more GOTS-certified virgin wool yarns from Sesia to our range.

We have integrated many of these changes based on customer feedback and always have an open ear for your ideas.

Further new functionalities are in the pipeline, we are not standing still!
